OUR MISSION

We Believe That Premium Clothing & Sneakers Shouldn’t Be Reserved for the Privileged Few

01.

How it all started

Are you tired of seeing others wear pricey (but amazing) sneakers while you settle for more affordable options? I was too.

My income couldn’t touch my dream sneakers, like the $4,500 Jordans 3 OG in size 10 or a $1,000 Supreme Box Logo hoodie! Still, I stayed on top of the hype, visiting Supreme stores every Thursday for new releases—often too late!

(Yes, I’m one of those sneaker fanatics who knows their kicks better than most.)

So, it was no surprise when I enrolled in fashion design school and interned at major sportswear brands, starting at Nike and working my way up in supply chains and assembly. That’s how it all began…

Shocking Truth: ‘Limited Collections’ Aren’t That Limited At All

Over time, I was deployed to low-cost labor countries like Vietnam and China, where major brands outsource production. I observed that thousands of exclusive sneakers, like Off-White Jordans 1 Chicago or Undefeated 4s, were often left behind due to inspection failures or defected batches damaged by poor storage conditions. Many sneakers sit in warehouses for months or even years before reaching stores.

My research revealed that factories working for brands like Nike and Adidas produce 2-5 times the necessary amount of footwear, distributing production across multiple sites. This strategy prevents any single factory from gaining design insights, accessing the full supply chain, or selling exclusive items independently. Eventually, all components are assembled together by the brands.

The main reason for this excess is to have replacements ready for any pairs that fail the final quality inspection, ensuring they meet release deadlines without delays.

That’s when I came up with this idea…

Factories and local manufacturers are overwhelmed with leftover inventory, and not all brands destroy excess supplies.

As a sneaker enthusiast with a passion for streetwear, I couldn’t bear to see all those incredible pieces go to waste. This has been a persistent issue for major brands, especially since many have outsourced production to China for cheaper labor. It took me a while to navigate this landscape and build connections, as these factories aren’t easy to find online or in person.

After much persistence and effort, I managed to persuade some of these factories to sell us their leftover inventory as “backdoors.” While this term may be unfamiliar and met with rejection initially, I embraced the idea that consistency breeds success. Eventually, I was able to gather a wealth of unassembled parts throughout my career.

With most brands now sourcing materials from China, we only needed a limited number of pairs to identify the exact materials for the products we now offer on ZipLocker. That’s why we typically wait for an official retail release before launching an item.

Thus, ZipLocker was born—becoming one of the leading companies for Unauthorized Authentic streetwear & sneakers.
